Organization: 10*10 grids (multiple). Two players in the middle. Two on the end lines. Supply of balls on the outside.
Activity: 1v1 defending activity. Objective is for the attacker to receive from an end player and play to the other target player. Work for 45 seconds and swap the middle.
Coaching Points:
1. Close down early, show restraint.
2. First defender principles.
3. Time tackles.
4. Keep everything in front.

Organization: Quarter field at Pine Glen. Balls along the outside of the field. Field to have 3 vertical zones. 6v6 plus a goalkeeper. One sub rotates for each team.
Activity: Teams play 7 v 7 (including goalkeeper). Teams play 1-2-3-1. Regular game rules apply. After three minutes, introduce the condition that the defending team must occupy the two zones (1-3) immediately adjacent to where the attackers have the ball. As the ball moves, defenders need to adjust which two zones they occupy.
Questions:
1. If the attacking team has a player(s) in the furthest zone away from the ball, what do you need to do about this player?
2. Do we ever want to allow that attacker between you and the goal or you and the ball?
Coaching Points:
1. Delay/deny forward play.
2. Support / depth in defending - 1st defender, 2nd defender principles.
3. Concentration - compact shape.
4. Communication.

Organization: 50*40 field (Quarter field at PG). Supply of balls along the outside and in the goals.
Activity: 2 teams - Play 6v6 (including GK). LOTG apply, including retreat line. Each team plays 1-2-1-2. Perhaps some coaching over, but otherwise allow for free play. Award an extra point for every successful attempt (even if just wide) or shot on goal (even if saved). Teams manage substitutions.
Coaching Points: Reinforce key factors and objectives from the session.
