Every player inside a large zone, every player has a ball. Each player dribbles the ball around avoiding contact with other players. On the coach’s signal, the players perform the footskill that was demonstrated. In between signals, the players should be focused on getting frequent touches. They do not need to run extremely fast, but they should be touching the ball very frequently.
•Skills to work on: Patterns: Zig-Zag, Roll. Turning: Pullback, inside and outside Chop, ½ Zico. Forward: Stab Push, Scissors, 1-Foot V-Pull.

Set up one field approximately 25 x 30 yards with one gate on each end. Split the players into two teams and number the players on each team (ex. 1,2,3,4,5,6). The opposing team should have a player whose number matches a player on the other team. Each team lines themselves up along one touch line. The coach will play a ball into the field and call a number. The player from each team who has that number enters the field to play against their counterpart from the other team. Vary the game and call multiple numbers so that they play in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and even 4v4 situations. Designate which team is attacking which gate. You can even call out situations where there’s numbers up situations.
•What should you do if you lose the ball?
•How should you move to get back on defense?
•Why do you want to be in-between the ball and your goal?
Coaching Points:
•Can you win the ball back right away?
•Get back behind the ball quickly (between ball and your goal)

Facilitate the game and help with positions, positioning, and game format. Facilitate a basic scrimmage with a goalkeeper and five field players. Allow the kids to “PLAY” but give guidance when necessary. Use a “coaching in the game” approach to emphasize the topics from this week’s training. Be sure to use the labeled names for the positions!

Hunters (10 mins)
In a group of approximately 12 players, 8 players would have a ball and the other 4 will not have a ball. If it's too easy for the dribblers, add more hunters - even to the point that the split is 50/50. On the coaches signal the “dribblers” will dribble in the grid trying to stay away from the “Hunters” who do NOT have a ball. The “Hunters” try to take a ball from the “dribblers”. If a “dirbbler’s” ball is stolen, the dribbler then instantly becomes a Hunter and the Hunter that stole the ball becomes the new dribbler. Play two or three rounds and encourage high energy from the Hunters to get to the player dribbling.
Today it's fine to win the ball back directly from the player who took it from you.
•How can the hunters be more successful?
•Do the hunters need to get to the dribbler fast or slow?
•What should you do as soon as you lose the ball?
Coaching Points:
•Can you win the ball back right away?
•Bend your knees, stay low, and light on your feet
•Keep your eyes on the ball
