8x12 field with 2 small goals, use cones to mark out 3 positions. Player 1 passes to 2, who passes to 3 then closes him down to defend. Player 1 runs to an onside position to attack 2v1 against Player 2. If a goal is scored both attackers get a point, defender can counter to score. Keep your individual score, first to 7 wins. Rotation: 1-2-3 then back in line.
Coaching Points:
- Drive into space
- Commit the defender
- Position of second attacker (wide of defender, at an angle)
- Decision making: pass or use a 1v1 move?

Setup
20x30 field. 2 teams, each with balls. Medium or big goals with GKs.
Instructions
Team A starts by sending out their first 3 players, middle player passes to one side then overlaps to start the sequence. Team B sends out 2 defenders. When the attack ends, the last A player to touch the ball will remain to defend 2v1 against the B players. (If B players haven't won the ball outright, they will turn back to receive a new ball from one of their teammates.)
- Progression: 1 touch finish = 2 pts
Coaching Points:
- Draw in the defender
- Overlapping & underlapping runs
- Good angles off the ball
- Finishing mentality

Passing Pattern Warmup (15 mins)
Line of four cones or dots 4yds apart. 5-6 players, 4 start on the dots. One ball. Player 2 checks wide to either side, Player 1 touches to other side and all remaining players open up accordingly. Pass as shown, Player 4 dribbles back to start. Remaining players move up one position.
Coaching Points:
- FIRE IT IN (crisp passes)
- OPEN BODY SHAPE
- TWO TOUCHES
- ANGLES vs. FLAT
Progressions:
- Rather than dribble back, Player 4 uses Player 3 for a wall pass around Player 2, who shadow defends.
- Add set passes for "up-back-through" sequence, i.e. 1-2-1-3-2-4
- Add a small goal at the end, challenge players to make 5 passes in any combination before scoring.
