10 by 10 yd diamond. Increase length to 16 by 10 yd in passing.
Instructions:
Dribble to the right. (Change of directon) and take away.
Change direction after 1 minute.
Coaching Points:
Dribbling :
Small and quick touches on entry.
Movement of body to fake.
Movement of ball to fake.
Look up and change speed to take away.
Passing:
Firm pass into feet.
Don't watch the ball- sprint! (quick movement after pass)
Keeping angle and distance on short-short-long (double pass followed by long pass)
Progressions:
Dribbling:
Scissors both to the left and right
Roll both to the left and right
Inside-outside both to the left and right
Passing:
Make lines further apart. Have players take the end cones 3 steps back from where they are.
2 touch - receive and play end to end. Sprint to either cone after and follow your pass.
Short-short long. Progress to 1 touch on short- short long.
Regressions:
1. Lift touch restriction in passing
2. Make the space between lines shorter

Organization:
Setup 2 areas for 8 players.
20x12 yard area.
4 players. 2 balls.
Players setup as shown.
Instructions:
A and D pass back and forth. On command from B the entry pass is made. Play 90 second rounds and rotate players.
Semi opposed- C tries only to intercept pass. .
Fully opposed- B and C play 1 v 1. If attacker scores in small goal, 1 point. If defender wins ball and plays back to A or D, 1 point.
Coaching Points:
React to visual cue of when pass is coming in.
Fast approach to close down.
Opt 1- Can I intercept the pass?
Opt 2- Disrupt the pass (poke tackle)
Opt 3- Slow down to get arms length away. Be patient.
Momentum of attacker when a true 1 v 1. Stood up, forward, backward?
Progressions: (90 seconds per round). High intensity so use coaching points during stoppages.
(1). Semi-opposed. Try to intercept the pass.
(2). Opposed- Full pressure and no restrictions of the defender. Rotate until everyone has had a turn as defender.
(3) Attacker only has 10 seconds to score. Each time a goal is scored new defender. Play competition within group to see who is the top scorer in each group. Play for 3 minutes and rotate winners up, losers down.

- Speed of reaction of defender
- Get touch tight
- Option 1 - Intercept pass and go to goal

Organization: Field width of the 18 yard box extending to the bottom of the circle. 2 GK or can play to pug goals with no GK. 3 teams of 4 for a tournament. Balls at center field on sideline with coach. Add neutral player if uneven numbers.
Instructions: First team to score in a 3 minute game wins and stays on. Winner gets 3 points for their team. If game tied after 3 minutes the team on longest is off. Both teams get 1 point for their team. Rules of the game in place. Throw ins, goal kick, and corner kicks on out of bounds.
Coaching Points: Use natural stoppages and individual coaching points in the flow for feedback more to allow players opportunity to show they can make decisions in possession without coach telling them what to do.

Organization:
-13 cones. 1 area setup cones staggered 3 yards side to side, front to back. 1 area setup cones in line with 1.5 feet spacing between cones.
Instructions:
- Go twice through each time. Switch lines after each run through.
Coaching Points:
- Running the knees and light on our feet not stomping down. Balance and control of body.
Progressions:
Cone line:
(1). 2 feet in each
(2). Weave through shuffling side to side.
(3). 2 forward, 1 back through end.
(4). Around each cone figure 8s through the end.
Staggered:
(1). Side to side shuffling.
(2). Hopping 2 feet 1 forward, 1 back to the side.
(3). Hopping with control 1 cone to the next side to side (slow).
(4). Side to side but run around each cone.
