Player 1 passes the ball to one of the wingers. The winger must sprint to meet the ball in the area where the 18-yard box starts.
Player 1 makes a run to the second post. Player 2 makes a run in the middle of the box & Player 3 makes a run to the first post.
The winger must then choose who he wants to send a cross to so that either of them can score.
This exercise will help players with crossing and finishing in a match situation. As a progression you then start to add defenders. When they have improved greatly progess the exercise with 4 defenders at the back so that all three players and also the winger have to face opposition. Keep an eye out for the players timing of runs and positioning.

This exercise consits of building up attacking plays that const of crossing and finishing. Players need to adjust how to time their runs and position themselves whilst scoring the goal.
1: Midfield player passes to the attacker.
2: Attacker passes to the other midfield player who comes out to meet the ball (3)
4: Winger starts to make his run with the pole being a guidline as if it is the full back of the opposite team.
5: The midfield player in control of the ball must pass the ball behind the pole so that the winger meets it just behind the full-back (match situation)
6: The attacker at the first post goes to the centre of the box while the other attack goes to the first post. The other midfield player goes to the second post with all three waiting for a cross to finish the attack. The midfielder who passed the ball to the winger stays just oustide the 18-yard box to either finish the attack with a shot from outside the box or to head back and defend if we get caught with a counter attack.

Crossing & Finishing #1
All four players start to run and as they are running player 1 throws the ball to player 2 who then throws the ball to player 3 who then lays the ball on the side for player 4 to meet and provide a cross once all the other three players are in the correct position to try and connect with the ball and score.
This exercise helps the boys/girls with crossing and finishing as it enables them to train in timing their runs and finishes.
