Small Sided Game (10 mins)

Organization:

Field being used is 20x30 yards.

Instructions:

As players start arriving,

they play a small sided game.

Coaching Points:

Principals of play.

Attacking and Defending.

Passing (20 mins)

Organization:

Field being used is 20x30 yards.

Instructions:

Players are placed into 3 teams.

Yellow, Blue, and Red.

Each team is in a triangle.

Team passing competition.

First team to complete is the winners.

Players are allow 2 touches to recieve and pass,

and the ball must go to a different player.

Coaching Points:

Observe your target.

Contact the ball in the middle.

Use your inside of your foot.

Supporting foot next to the ball.

Ankles locked and toes pointed up.

Passing quality of the ball.

Checking your shoulders.

Progressions:

Round 1 - First team to 5 passes.

Round 2 - First team to 10 passes.

Round 3 - First team to 15 passes.

Round 4 - First team to 20 passes.

Passers vs Defenders (20 mins)

Organization:

Field being used is 20x30 yards.

Instructions:

Players are placed into 3 teams.

Yellow, Blue, and Red.

2 teams are defending,

and 1 team are passing.

Passers have to score to get a point.

Defenders have to dribble and stop on line to get a point.

Rotate passing players,

then rotate defending teams.

Coaching Points:

Commit the defender.

Passes? Straight pass or thru pass.

Could we disguise a pass?

Play with the supporting player.

Recognize defender body shape.

Progressions:

Round 1 - Yellows are Passers, Blue/Red are Defenders.

Round 2 - Blues are Passers, Yellow/Red are Defenders.

Round 3 - Reds are Passer, Yellow/Blue are Defenders.
