WHITE FOCUS: defending as a pair (condition/restriction). Time and distance, working in combinations. Press/delay/interception. Cover & balance. Control & restraint. Communication. Identify where the danger is. Recognise attackers strong side and their movement off the ball. Body shape to defend. Attempt to win the 1 v 1's created. Can white cut off the pass/supply? Will the two territorial white players recognise when they become active?
PROGRESSION: Reward white for interceptions.
PROGRESSION: Reward white for interceptions in a set time.
PROGRESSION: Reward white for effective defensive strategy.
PROGRESSION: Allow an additional white to join the play when blue are in possession to create the pressure/challenge.

SET UP: 2 grids back to back 15 x 20. (8 players/ flexible).
OBJECTIVE: how to effect a situation defensively and react when possession is won.
Blues contest a 4 v 2 against white. Blues are looking to keep possession whilst whites attempt to win the ball and break out.
BLUES FOCUS: quality accurate passing with pace. Pass selection, pass to the "safe side". Body shape to receive. Intelligent movement. Soft feet. Creating space and angles. Trigger movements to create combinations. Looking to be positive and creative in possession. Play with disguise and take a risk.
When possession is lost how do blues react as a unit?
PROGRESSION: Reward blue for number of passes.
PROGRESSION: Reward blue for number of passes in a set time.
PROGRESSION: Blue to play 2 touch.
PROGRESSION: Allow a blue to join the play inside the grid.
