Block 4: Double down (front two) & delay & shape (for defenders)

Coaching Points:
CP Def:
Shape: Compact (how should front 2 be defending?)
Communicate: Specific & Intense. Need to sense urgency. When line gets broken, immediate double down and apply immediate pressure from the front to prevent player from turning.
CP Off: Half space, play between the lines.

Four Zone Game w/ Emphasis Defensive Organization. Counter Principles: Final ball and penetration into final third.
Grid: 30 x 25 Yards
# of Players: 6v6, 7v7, 8v8
Field is set-up into 4 zones. Field dimensions will depend on number of players.
Rules:
- One team always starts with the ball for 1-2 min. Why? (Work on that specific function)
- Players are to stay in their respective zones when defending. Offensively, players can go anywhere.
- As soon a ball is played into a zone, Attackers drive at defenders with numbers up game. If attackers join then defensive players can recover.
Progressiong:
It's live after ball is played through midfield third to front line of attackers. If offensive team starts with ball, and is successful in playing the ball into middle zone, then defensive higher players 'double down' from behind and defenders in defensive zone apply immediate pressure to not give space and time to player. Attackers need to drive at defenders and put immediate pressure on them.
How do you prevent this from happening?
Scoring:
Attacking team get's one point for scoring in big goals after penetrating the last line (pass or dribble)
Defending team:
1 Point = if have defenders intercept pass as a result of good communication.
1 Point = if win it and score on counter goals.
Coaching Points:
Team Defending: Communication (Urgency) & defensive shape to prevent penetration and Doubling Down from front players if ball gets played through. Good 1v1 defending and delay the attack.
Team attacking: Drive at front foot, mobility and creative runs to unbalance opposition.
