Technical Practice (15 mins)

ORGANISATION:

- Unopposed practice to develop understanding.

- Mannequins resemble positions with opposition team man marking.

OJECTIVE:

- Players simply have to work the ball around the sequence.

- Once playing a pass, players should follow to the next position.

COMMUNICATION/COACHING POINTS:

- Check runs off mannequin to create space.

- Open body shape to receive the ball.

- Scanning whilst opening body (space, opponents, teammates)

- Receive techniques to play forward (back foot etc.)

- Pass execution/ ball striking (weight and accuracy)

Opposed Practice (30 mins)

ORGANISATION:

- Area two thirds of relevant pitch size depending on age.

- 2v1+GK in first third

- 3v2 in middle third

OBJECTIVE:

- Build the attack to dribble through gates (central 3 points, wide 1 point to encourage penetration through central areas).

- Can also use a target player depending on numbers.

COMMUNICATION/COACHING POINTS:

- Passing and Receiving checklist from practice one.

- Brave in possession of the ball (receiving, retaining and escaping pressure).

- "Eyes up"

- Creative solutions outside of examples delivered.

- 1v1 Domination (variety of techniques dependent on where pressure comes from).

PICTURES CREATED:

1: CB receives and drives with ball to eliminate first line of pressure.

2: Using the keeper to switch the point of attack.

3: CM dropping in to offer extra passing option.
