Basic Rondo (10 mins)

i. Session Organisation

  • Rondo
  • Technical Speed
  • Mental Speed

ii. Age groups/Level of Ability

  • Age 7 and above

iii. Size of Area required

  • Number of players dependant

iv. Number of Players - Min: Max:

  • 5+

v. Duration

  • 10 minutes

vi. Equipment required

  • Balls
  • Marked out area (circle or square)

vii. Structure of the Session

  • Attackers are to keep the ball from the defenders
  • If you lose the ball you replace the player in the middle

viii. Attacking points

  • Keep the ball inside the area and from the defenders
  • Accuracy and weight of the passes
  • Awareness of where the defenders are
  • Speed of play

ix. Defending points

  • Positioning
  • When to press the ball
  • Working as a group when more than 1 player in the middle

x. Coaching points

  • Let the players play with freedom

xi. Progressions

  • One or two touch
  • One touch, two touch, one touch etc
  • 11 passes the defenders stay in (can increase or decrease)
  • Nutmeg the defender they stay in
  • Work in pairs and not individual
  • Defenders to dribble out the circle or square if they regain possession

  • 6 (3v1)
  • 6 (4v2)

  • 5-10 minutes

vi. Equipment required

  • Balls
  • Marked out area of 2 halves

vii. Structure of the Session

  • Attackers are to keep the ball from the defenders
  • If you regain possession transfer to your other 2 players and return to play 4v2 in your half

viii. Attacking points

  • Keep the ball inside the area and from the defenders
  • Accuracy and weight of the passes
  • Awareness of where the defenders are
  • Speed of play

ix. Defending points

  • Positioning
  • When to press the ball
  • Working as a group when more than 1 player in the middle

Attacking

  • Number of players dependant (compact)

iv. Number of Players - Min: Max:

  • 6 (3v1)
  • 6 (4v2)

v. Duration

  • 5-10 minutes

vi. Equipment required

  • Balls
  • Marked out area of 2 halves
  • Mini goals (1 or 2)
  • Large goals (keeper each end, can include in the rondo building the attack phase)

vii. Structure of the Session

  • Attackers are to keep the ball from the defenders
  • If you complete a number of passes you can progress to the opposite half to finish the attack
  • Lose possession the other team build the attack

viii. Attacking points

  • Keep the ball inside the area and from the defenders
  • Accuracy and weight of the passes
  • Awareness of where the defenders are
  • Speed of play
  • Build the attack with patience and progress forward at the right time
  • Finish the attack

ix. Defending points

  • Positioning
  • When to press the ball
  • Working as a group when more than 1 player in the middle
