The pitch is split in half and there are two half pitch games going on. The teams are 4v3 + GK.
(1) The team of 4 attackers start on the half way line and the team of 3 defenders start on the edge of the box. The GK starts the game by throwing the ball out to one of the attackers and they break, attempting to score a goal. If the defenders gain possession then they break over the half way line to score.
Team Challenges;
- Consider speed of pass
- Create angles of support
- Support beyond the ball
Individual Challenges;
- Can you play forward with your first touch
- Try to set up attacks with minimal touches
- Find opportunities to create 1v1s for yourself
(2) To change the challenge the attackers set up 3 midfielders on the half way line and put a striker between two defenders. The defenders have a player out of position, in line with the opposition midfield and the ball starts again with the GK. On the attacker's first touch the game is live and the blue player can recover.
Rotate positions throughout the practice. Also allow for different set ups; EG; 2 attackers vs 2 defenders + 2 midfielders vs 1 recovering midfielder.

The players are placed on to a narrow pitch and play 8v8. If a player scores they must leave the pitch for 2 minutes. They enter the shaded area and play 1v1/2v1/2v2/3v2 etc. If there is only one player in this area then they do keep ups. Once their 2 minutes is up they can return to the pitch.
Finally, the session will progress to free play.
Intro Games
The players are split into 3v3/4v4 games. They set up in a diamond formation and the emphasis is on being compact before breaking quickly on the regain of possession.
If a team can score from a regain before their opposition recover all of their players into their own half the goal is worth 5 points instead of 1.
