First Half Performance

First Half Positives:

+variation of dribbling technique based on pressure to find open space

+players were constantly using change of direction skill moves to unbalance defenders

+the majority of players are now dribbling with their head up that is improving their decision making skills on the ball

+the team improved on keeping their team shape when the ball was on central zones (see diagram)

+players were providing width and length to the first attacker as there was a vast improvement

+there was better spreading out when we were in possession of the ball

First Half Challenges:

-every wants to be the first defender and thus leave their positions when in transition to attack

-the biggest struggle is is defending technique/principles

-there was very little communication of who was pressing

-as a result many of the same teammates would press the same ball allowing a bunch of open space for the opposition to penetrate

Second Half Performance

Second Half Positives:

+team kept their composure and team shape for the majority of the second half

+players are attempting to connect passes by playing to each other's feet

+passing technique is improving as players as using their planting foot

+players are taking a touch instead of just booting the ball up the field

+back line was solid by always staying compact and moving up the the thirds as we arrived to the final third

+each centerback was communicating with the other to stay as a line up the field

Second Half Challenges:

-turning with the ball is a struggle as players are not checking their shoulders

-the biggest issue is when defending in front of our defensive third when our players would regain possession of the balls

-players were clearing the ball straight to the middle or more dangerously driving the ball down the middle from wide areas

-the team regressed to poor spatial awareness as players were not giving width or length when the ball was in wide  or  central  areas

-as a result players were making runs right next to 1st attacker clogging up potentially open space
