Grade 12 Warm-Up (10 mins)

THE SESSION: U12 Warm Up

 

Set up:

- 3 lines of cones spaced 10 metres apart

- Split players into even groups (including GK's)

- The first player of each group moves forward

- The next player in line goes once first player reaches middle cone

- 2 reps of each Players will perform the following exercises:

- Jog through up and back

- Open gate (10m) into close gate (10m)

- Side step (10m) then swap direction halfway

- Carioca (10m) then swap direction halfway

- Alternating 1 leg skip (20m)

- Jog into diaganol shuffle at half way

- Quick sharp small steps forward then back to line and then forward 75% run to end

- Jog forward (10m) then sprint at halfway (10m)

- Stationary start 20m sprint

**U12 lunges, hamstring raises and squats not required**

 

Find partner and space:

- Arm on shoulder and swing leg across switch leg after 20 seconds

- Arm on shoulder and perform hamstring kicks

 

Players should now complete any other relevant stretches

- advise them on these to ensure appropriate technique.

Try to make it a dynamic stretch

THE SESSION: Explosive Preperation Exercises

 

Sprints - 9x30mtr 30 second rest between each sprint

1 set of sprints

3mins rest before next activity

Possession 6+2v6 (15 mins)

The Session: 6+2 v 6 Possession (Non Directional) 15mins

 

Setup:

- 6+2 players in the middle v 6 defenders in the middle.

- grid size 6x6 per defender

- 3 x 2.5min games with 2 min rest in between. (Swapping Neutral players each game)

- Red team starts and tries to maintain possession

- if blue team wins ball they will now try to maintain possession

- Defending team looks to win the ball within 5/6 seconds of losing possession

 

Key messages:

- Style pass

- Open body position

- Back foot receive

- 3 checks

- Movement to receive

- Play in the future

- Arm up

- Quality of pass

- Pressure to win ball back quickly

- Tons of communication

 

Progression:

- 2/3 touches

- Make directional by adding small goals

- Every 5 passes is worth a point

 

Challenges/Competitions:

- Which team can make the most passes in the time limit

- Most points scored for completing 5 passes

- Rewards and punishments

Receiving to step into midfield (25 mins)

THE SESSION: Receiving to Step in to Midfield

Set-up

6 x 8 per defender

4 x 3.5 mins with 2 mins rest between (rotate end and side players each rotation)

3v3 (4v4) Possession with a back 4 on the outside of the area. Aim is to play through to the opposite teams centre backs to score a point. on scoring a point the opposite team have possession and then try and play through. You can can play back to the central defenders who are free on the outside. If you pass to a full back they can any recycle the ball through the central defenders.

 

KEY MESSAGES:

1) Movements to support the ball.

- First Player - Close

- Second Player - Half and Half

- Third Player behind - Stretching the game, with a view to receiving in the pocket.

- 'Find the line of the ball'

2) Technique

- Receiving - Looking to play forwards, under pressure, in space, breaking lines

- Passing - Types of pass

3) Possession

- When to risk

- When to keep

- Ball Circulation - Speed of Play

All In Game (40 mins)

THE SESSION: Conditioning Game 8v8 or 7v7

 

Set-Up

8 v 8 or 7 v 7

Play 3 x 11 min games with 2 min rest between

Encourage players to work on the 5 key habits, Open Body, 3 Checks, Movement to receive, Break the Line and style pass

Attacking team are looking to play forward as quickly as possible and exploit space behind defenders

Defending team are looking to stay compact and not get outplayed, can they set block as quickly as possible.

If the ball is lost in attacking third can we press and win ball back quickly.

If defender is in 1v1 situation can they win the ball, if not remmeber 4 D's, deny, delay, deflect adn destroy.
