Intro (5 mins)

Organization:

  • Everyone with a ball but one or two 
  • Ouch game 

Instructions:

  • Dribbling around and chasing the two without a ball trying to pass ball into ball or shins, get a point for every time they say ouch 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Keep head up anticipation of where they are moving 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P: ouch people have ball too R: field bigger

Warm Up (15 mins)

Organization:

  • Gate at end of the field about 15 yards 
  • 4/5, 6 
  • 2 goals at the defensive end of the field 

Instructions:

  • Ball gets played into defender who is looking to turn and play the ball forward to the CM. When CM receives ball, they are looking to turn and exit through the gates at the end of the field

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Checking shoulders 
  • Turning on the receiving touch 
  • Quick pace in ball movement 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • Progression : Have it timed to see which side can get through the gates the most

Main Activity (20 mins)

Organization:

  • Gate at end of the field about 15 yards
  • 4/5, 6
  • 2 goals at the defensive end of the field
  • 2 defenders on each side 

Instructions:

  • Ball gets played into defender who is looking to play the ball forward to the CM. When CM receives ball, they are looking to turn and exit through the gates at the end of the field
  • Defending player is allowed to pressure the defender once pass is made in and has one chance to counter in either goals 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Checking shoulders 
  • Identify what the defender is showing you 
  • How can movement from CM support defender on the ball? 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • Regression : Defender can step in only on the first touch of the defender 
  • Progression : 3v2 and allow both defensive players and CM play

Conditioned Game (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 3v3 (4,5,6) 
  • Goal on each end 
  • Halfway mark/buildout line on each side 

Instructions:

  • Team is looking to score on goal, if they can cross the half using the CM they get 3 points 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Checking shoulders
  • Movement from players around the ball 
  • Quick decision making 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • Progression : can only score once crossed half of the field
