Welsh Way Principles :Understand When and How to minmise space, deal with crosses,
shots & protect space centraly in the defensive third.
Organisation/Area Size :40x30 m, 2 m channels and neutral zone for midfielders.
Play 6v6 +2 common players (yellow) in the channels.
Play 4 x 3 minute periods with 2 min break.
Explanation :The objective of the team in possession is to try combine in own half ,minimun
of three passes with common players, when they have completed three passes ,a player can
run in the channel ,overlapping,to cross the ball into the area ,
in order to create 4v3 (3 reds +opposite common player vs 3 defenders ).
This gives the coach the opportunity to work with players in terms of the Welsh Way Principles
of defending the final Third.
If the "higher" players win the ball they keep possession and get their passes in (minimun of 3 )
with common players before to shot/score.
Challenges,Conditions & Targets :
1.The challenge to the team out of possession is to press the ball and think about the how
and when the defending team has to protect the central areas, organise the line, stopping shots
and crosses,in particular putting bodies on the lines and working as the team.
If they win the ball at any time ,they have to complete three passes with a common players,
before to create new overlap or attacking the final third ,in this case using the midfielder
in the neutral zone.
2.Limited touches in possession(2/3).
Progression:Common player can cross/pass the ball to the player in the opposite channel,
then to create a new overlap .
This play allows ,in case of goal,to score two points.
How: The coach work with one team only when out of possession.

Width and depth attack
Fast passes and forward movement to create 3v3 or 4v3
Overlap (timing)
Speed of the attack/finishing
