Red team set up in a 1-4-1 formation blues set up in a 2-3-1 formation
Activity
3 zone game related activity
Defenders and strikers must stay in their zones but midfielders can move between to create overload
Aim of the game is for the ball to be played into the striker and for them to hold the ball up for players to support in the final 3rd (4 v 2)
When red team gk is in possession 1 of the midfield 4 can go in with the defender to create 2 v 1
When blue team are in possession 3 midfielders can go in to help striker and 1 red player can help go in and defend
Progression: 1 recovering defender from the blue team can go in to try and stop red team from scoring

10 attacker 2 defender plus 2 gk to begin with
8 attacker 4 defenders plus 2 gk for 1st progression
7 attackers 5 defenders plus 2 gk for 2nd progression
Activity
Working on support from centre midfield, wide players and the striker
Bedding In (4v1): Centre midfielder will start with the ball and play it into striker
The striker will hold the ball up taking 1 touch and wait for support from centre mid
Defender try to win the ball and stop team from scoring, defender will get a point by scoring in small goals
The ball will be fed in from either a wide player or centre mid looking for support from the wide players as well
Progression: 2nd defender added in to make it a 4 v 2. Then a final progression of a recovering defender to make it 4 v 3
Coaching Points:
Striker to lengthen the game to allow space for support
Wide Players keep the width of the pitch and to attack down flanks
Centre Midfielder over depth and support moving in relation to the ball
Communication (hold, man on & time)
Movement off the ball to create space and different options of supoort
