Players will develop 1 v. 1 attacking mentality. Through repetitions at game speed, players will gain confidence to take players on 1 v. 1. Teach players the cues and individual tactics of beating a player 1 v. 1 when facing pressure. Use the conditioned game and game to teach players moments to recognize 1 v. 1s.

Organization:
10x20 area. 4 players. 3 players with balls next to mini goal. 1 player across the area between red cones without ball.
Instructions:
(Non opposed)- Player A - firm pass across and races Player B- dribbles across as fast as they can- First player across opposing line gets the point. Next player in line goes once attacker is ready.

Coaching Points:
(1). Recognition of defender
(2). Recognition of space
(3). Body shape of defender
(4). Speed of defender? Fast- beat them with first touch. Slow- small touches to bait them in.
(5). End result? Can you score? Do you need to dribble by the defender to score?
Progressions:
(1). Non-opposed. As shown in instructions
(2). Semi-opposed. Player A - passes across and becomes shadow defender. Player B- beats defender 1 v. 1 and continues dribble across. Players end up swapping starting positions- next player in line goes once attacker is ready.
(3). Opposed- Player A passes to Player B and play 1 v. 1 in the area. B attacks the mini goal and A tries to win the ball and dribble across the opposing end line. Each player keeps track of their points.

Organization: as many areas as needed. 10 yards wide x 20 long. 2-3 players per area.
Instructions: play 1 v. 1 in each channel. Player with ball passes across. Receive and try to beat player 1 v. 1 across end line. 2 minute rounds. Ball out of channel or restart. Other player passes and other player receives. Player with higher score promoted to next court. Low score demoted.
Coaching Points:
1. Observation of defender's speed of approach.
A. Fast- touch around and go.
B. Slow- keep touches close, and read body shape to judge direction of move.
2. Observation of space.
3. End product.
4. Mentality to attack.
Progressions:
1. Play 1 v. 1 keep track of points scored for successful dribble across. 2 minute rounds. Winner of each court is decided and changes are made to progress or regress to different court.

Organization:
-40x50 yd area
-6 red players and 6 blue players.
-2 targets from each team on either side of attacking goal.
Instructions:
1. 4 v. 4 + 2 to goals
2. Only 1 player from each team allowed in wide channels.
Coaching points:
(1). Separation from defender when not on the ball.
(2). Receive ball and get head up- where is goal? Identify defender.
(3). Where is the space?
(4) Supporting target players- how does WIDTH/ DEPTH effect this?
(4). Applaud attacking mentality
Progressions:
(1). 2 targets each end line both teams. Only player with ball allowed in channels and only 1 defender allowed in channels. Change out targets as subs every 3 minutes.
(2). Target players can join the game once passed to to create numbers up situation.

Organization: 4v4. First team to score stays on and losing team goes off.

1 v. 1 Warm up (10 mins)
Organization: 30x30 yd area. 1 ball per player on red team. Adjust space based on numbers.
Instructions: 75% speed to start. Move into 100% after 1 full roation. Red players- Dribbling freely around space. Calls out name of a blue player and dribbles at them 1 v. 1 to get around them. Blue players- moving around the area without a ball. Becomes shadow defender to red player who calls out their name. Switch red and blues after 1 minute. 1 red will remain with a ball.
Coaching Points:
1. Awareness in tight spaces when dribbling.
2. Awareness of defender.
3. Scanning the space constantly.
Progressions: 1. Attackers 75% speed for 1 minute. Switch red with blue players.
2. Attackers game speed. Switch red and blue players.
3. How many players can you beat in a row without losing possession (dribbling out of area, other player touches your ball, your ball touches another ball)?
