Activity 1 - Soccer Tag (10 mins)

Activity 1 - Soccer Musical Chairs & Soccer Tag

Rep 1 - Every player has their soccer ball and they can run around thw soccer area however they want. If the coach shouts freeze, they need to freeze in that position. If the coach shouts GO then you must run and try to sit on a soccer ball. If you are out, you take a soccer ball and now you dribble the ball around the square. Play until there is 1 person remaining.

Rep 2 - Give every player their ball. They are all taggers and non taggers. The objective is to strike the ball at their team mates whilst not getting hit. If they get tagged they must performed a bridge.

Rep 3 - Perform a crab (HOW to create space for a shot - Take a touch to get it out of your feet?)

Rep 4 - Bridge with 1 leg (HOW to create space for a shot - Think about where you plant your foot?)

Rep 5 - Bridge with 1 arm (HOW to create space for a shot - How do you get power on the ball?)

From rep 2-5 go over one part of the technique to get them mentally prepared.

1) Plant the standing foot next to the ball,

2) Leaning back to get height on the ball

3) High back swing and then strikethrough the ball,

4) Use instep, laces, outside and toe.

5) Body movement going towards the player or goal they are shooting or passing to

Activity 2 - 2v1s to goal (15 mins)

Activity 2 - 2v1s to goal

2 attackers will play against 1 defender. The objective is for the 2 attackers to work together to create a situation where the attacker creates some space and they can shoot on goal. If the defender wins the ball, their job is to dribble through the yellow goals or make a pass through it. Once again the focus is on making some space to shoot.

Progressions = 2 mins

Rep 1 - Defender Dribbles through the yellow goals (HOW can you make space to shoot as an individual?)

Rep 2 - Defender passes through the yellow goals (HOW can you make space to shoot for your partner) Change the defender.

Rep 3 - Defender passes through the yellow goals (Partner - WHERE can you stand to prepare yourself for a shot?) Change the defender.

Rep 4 Defender passes through the yellow goals (Partner - WHERE can you stand to prepare yourself for a shot?) Change the defender.

Rep 5 - Free Play - Change the defender

Players now play 3v3 towards a large goal. The defending team can score points by dribble over the half way line.
