PLAY WITH BREAKS - CHANGE NETURAL PLAYER
The end zones go to a 2v2. There is now a neutral player in the middle third. Play starts by the coach feeding a ball into one of the end zones. Red will defend one end blue the other.
When the ball is received by the defending team they must try to play to the neutral player who can move freely in order to create overloads. They can only attack / breakout from a pass from the neutral player. If the ball is intercepted by the blues in the red defending 3rd they should try to score.
If the reds get out they then make a 3v2 in the blues defending area and score in the goals. If the defending blues intercept they play to the neutral player.
Play starts again from the coach when goals are scored.
Now we are also looking at how a move off the ball will help the runner.

Set up for 9 players (15 mins)
In a suitable area the pitch is divided into 3. We start with a 3v2 in one of the end zones. The reds should play a combination of passes before breaking out and running with the ball to the far end. Here they start again.
If blue intercept then they should break out and try to run through the coned areas. The ball is then reset to the start position at a 3v2.
Coaching points: Body position to receive ball, Movement to create space, break out fast, big touch and run with ball on laces, Head up timing of pass.
