Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Set up:
40x30 pitch is set up using small cones. 2 mini goals and 1 large goal on opposite ends.
Both teams separated into teams at start. (10 players)
Ball nest on either side of field.
1 blue gets two bibs and takes off for the ssg.
Owen et al (2004)'s research into small sided games shows that isolating 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 scenarios lead to by far larger amounts of dribbling than any number of larger small sided games, such as 3 v 3, 4 v 4 and 5 v 5.
Objectives:
4v3 in middle of pitch with 2 goalkeepers. Neutral player supporting any team with the ball.
To start with the blues start with the ball and try and progress forward to score. Each goal is worth one point.
The aim for the blues is to use the neutral to make they're overload harder to defend. If the blues score or the ball goes out of play off of a blue it becomes a red ball. And for red if they score or the ball goes out of play off of a red it becomes a blue ball.
Progressions and regressions:
Blues have to complete a certain amount of passes before being able to have a shot.
Neutral player can have a shot on goal
Challenges/conditions/target:
- Can you score with a first time finish
- you have to make 5 passes before scoring
- you have to use the neutral player before you can score
- Can you score within 10 seconds of getting ball. (both teams) = 2x points
