Screen 1

Organization:

6 Cones, 3 lines, 3 players per group.

Instructions:

Players are numbered 1 through 3, player 1 dribbles to middle line and turns, once they make eye contact with next player (2) they then do the same. Player 1 dribbles back to start and process continues.

Progression 1: Players now dribble to end line and perform scissors on middle line before accellerating to end line. Once their they turn and make eye contact with the next player who then goes.

Coaching Points:

Messi dribbling

1. Touch every step

2. Pinky toe dribble, turn ankle in

3. Head up as much as possible

Ronaldo Dribbling

1. Bigger touches with laces

2. Head up after every touch

3. Take touch in stride with nearest foot

Scissors

1. Timing

2. Movement around ball and not over it

3. Bigger touch out of feet (head up and accelerate)

Progressions:

Players now only use 1 ball and start with 1 player on each line. The ball starts on the end line and is passed into the middle player once they check. The middle player opens out and plays to the end player who dribbles at the player on the start line (they start to walk towards them after their 1st touch) and beats them with a scissors move.

Progression 1: The defender on the start line can defend as soon the player on the end line takes a touch

Progression 2: The attacker may use the middle player as a neutral (they have one touch) to beat the defender

Progression 3: The defender can now defend as soon as they pass

Organization:

1 GK, 1 ball each per player

Instructions:

Players are in pairs and have a ball each. Players face each other at start of game, the attacker plays the ball through the defenders legs who has the chance to break away and score. Once the ball is dead they then have to recover to defender against the attacker who is attacking the goal.

Coaching Points:

1. Recognition of the defenders position (drive at them or the space)

2. Creation of space on stronger foot by initially moving opposite way

3. If driving at the defender can you attack the front foot to unbalance

4. Positive attitude to shooting, do you need to dribble past them?!

5. Quick Transition time

Regressions:

1. If players aren't transition quick enough and scoring chances are too easily created add a zone where the defender must get go before the attacker can attack
