Target Player Practice.
One red and one blue inside each of the target endzones,
Two balls in play, one for each team.
Red team have to transfer the ball from one endzone to the other.
Blue team do the same.
Progressions:
Player inside the endzone has to make a first time pass.
Player who passes to target player switches places with him.
Coaching points:
Concentrate on the players first touch.
Receiving players double movement.
Check shoulder.
Recieve on the back foot.
Target players need to be on the move as well as central players. Can you see your teammates feet?

Target Player Game.
Remove one of the balls and the practice now becomes a game, with reds v blues.
Score 1 point for every successful transfer from one side to the other.
Progression:
Once Target player has played the ball into one of his team mates, he can now join in to support and create an overload. Player must be aware to drop back into target zone once a successful transfer has been made, ready to receive the next pass. Or, can a different player drop in?
Coaching Points:
As previously, concentrate on receiving on the back foot, double movements, pass and move, etc.
How can the Target player offer support once he has joined play?
Ammendments:
If an odd number of players, one player can be a 'joker' player and play for the team in posession.
If low numbers, play with just one Target player in endzone rather than one from each team. Target player players for the team in possession.

SSG
Play a SSG and focus on support play.
If a team can score using a good supporting play from their teammates the goal counts as 2.
Coaching Points:
Encourage and praise support play.
Interject when missed support play opportunities happen and ask how the play might have looked different? Might there have been a different outcome?
