Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Attacking overloads

Screen 1

1) Defender passes the ball across and then defends 2 small gates either side of him / her. Attacker has to dribble the ball through either gate to score. If the defender wins the ball roles are immediately reversed. Switch lines after every attack to change roles. Have 2 games going on at the same time in different directions to add chaos

2) Defender passes the ball across and closes the receiving player down. Attacking player to dribble through either small gate to the side of them to score a goal. If defender wins the ball they immediately become the attacker. Add a progression whereby both players turn and sprint through the opposite gate for a 2nd point once a goal has been scored.

3) Two teams lined up either side of the coach as shown. Coach passes the ball onto the pitch and players battle for possession. Players starting on the yellow cone dribble through either small yellow gate to score and dfefend the red gates and visa versa for the players starting on the red cones.

4) On coach's command 1st player in each line run around the outside of the pitch and through the small gate to enter the pitch. !st player onto the pitch receives a pass from the coach and then aims to dribble through either small gate of their opponent to score. If the defender wins the ball then roles are immediately reversed. Can start with no balls and a tagging game with the same scoring process to work on movement.

Screen 3

3v2 with game started by a pass into the wide player from the side of the goal. 3 players then attack the 2 and aim to finish on goal. Once the attack is complete by either a goal or shot the 2 defenders leave the pitch, 2 new attackers start from the opposite goal with a pass into their wide player, 2 of the original attackers stay on to become the next defenders and the 3rd original attacker drops out to be the new wide player for the next atack. If the 2 defenders win the ball they attack the opposite goal 2v3. Wide player may have to be clever with movement to receive if the pass is being blocked. Ensure realistic starting positions for the defenders to allow the attack to develop.
