Part Practice
Structure
7 Reds v 6 Blues. 3v3 in one half (replicating midfield area). 4v3 in the other half with reds numerically stronger (replicating back 4 v strikers)
Reds must play ball into midfielders. If they do this, Red fullbacks can enter and go 4v3 to goal with a first-time finish required. Blues are aiming to win ball and attack goal,
Key Points
- Blue wingers get out and stop fullback playing. Try to WIN ball
- Midfield rotation if needed to man mark
- Midfield 3 movement in relation to ball, ready to intercept on front foot
- Reaction if ball gets into red midfield - DETERMINATION not to concede
- Quality pass into strikers from Blue when ball won.

Whole Practice - Part 1
Structure
Half pitch third funnel practice. Reds attacking two mini-goals (central) in a 4-2-1 shape (replicating 4-2-3-1. Both fullbacks for Red have 3-touch limit. Blues set up in a 3-3 shape (replicating 3 centre-mids and 3 strikers in a 4-3-3) and are trying to win ball and attack goal.
Key Points
- Blue 9 curves runs and forces centre backs one way, also run from slightly deeper to discourage pass to keeper
- Blue wingers curve run, force fullbacks outside always
- Blues compact and deny central passing lanes and balls into the red 10
- If centre back switches and blue 9 unable to get across, nearest midfielder (8 or 10) can jump and press centre back aggresively. Blue 6 jumps and leaves 10 unmarked but watches the screen.
