How
Play to start on halfway line
RED team to attack blue goal, RED 7 & 11 only to use wide channels
STRIKER ( 9 ) to play within zone's 1,2 & 3
BLUE team on winning back posession can attempt to attack the 2 target goals
REDS- STRIKER to be awarded points for moving and receiving ball in numbered zones and extra points from scoring within the zones.
Progressions/Adaptions
. Coach can pre determine points for goals scored in each zone : Headers, shots, volley's and rebounds. Left and Right foot finishes.
. Limit touches for striker in zones
. Striker receiving ball in zone 3 must attempt to turn and shoot
. Restrict movement of defenders in specific areas
. When play is in wide zones, ball must be crossed in, to allow for headed attempts on goal
Coaching Points ( Striker )
. Does striker look up before shooting, where is GK? shot placement
. First touch to take ball into a shooting position or hold the ball up
. Turning, can striker turn into space so shot is on- Doesn't turn into defender ( does he look and do team mates talk
. Shoot early before GK is set
. Follow in shots , incase of rebound
. unbalance defenders and GK, by using body movement and "fakes"
STRIKER SPECIFIC
. Communication, ( Tell the player on the ball what to do with it )
. Decision Making, type of shot, when to shoot.
. Confidence to try again if a shot is missed or a poor touch taken.
. Confidence to try things- different types of finish

How
Play to start with NO RESTRICTIONS
RED team + YELLOW STRIKER, attacking BLUE goal
To promote realism, play will re-start where ball goes out of play, i.e. throw ins and goal kicks to be played.
BLUE team to press ball at all times
Progressions/Adaptions
. RED wide players only in wide zones
. Ball to be played into box from wide zones
. Coach to award points if REDS can get striker to receive ball in certain areas determined by coach. i.e dropping and recieving ball between lines ( midfield & defence ), receiving ball in behind defensive line

Progressing on from Specific practice, with additional focus on:-
. Strength to hold off defenders and shield the ball
. Speed- Making runs in behind defenders
. Agility when receiving the ball and getting into shooting positions
. Balance when receiving the ball
