Set Up:
Passing pattern, RB passes into the RM who plays inside to the CM who plays it long to the RB who has over lapped the RW. RB then passes it across (imitating an actual cross) to the next waiting player who repeats the sequence from the other side. Both sides are going at the same time.
Progression - Opposite side, Left hand side.
- 2 touch.
- Make it a compitition, who can complete the sequence fastest.
Coaching Points:
- Always move when receiving a pass, check in/out etc.
- RB must time run to receive at full pace.
- Trigger for run is when ball leaves RW foot.

Set UP:
Att v Def wave attack. Game always starts with the LB or RB, complete passing pattern to goal. Only the DEF LB or RB is allowed in the wide channels to create an overload inattacking favour. Swap sides of attack.
Variations - RW or LW pull realy wide for the FB makes an UNDERLAPPING run forward.
Progressions - 3 touch
Coaching Points:
- Wingers commit the opp fullback, use the run for a cross as a decoy or make the pass, decision making.
- FB time the run, stay onside and receive at pace, look for triggers. EG, has the defender commited? has the RW moved out?
- CM - movement to receive, drop deep.
- COMMS, hold, release. call the overlap etc.
Rewards - any goal from first time cross is worth 3 goals.
Restrict - must be first time cross.

Set Up:
7v7 restricted game. Goal must be socred from an over lapping run or dummy run.
Progression: Free play.

Overlapping runs (15 mins)
Set Up -
In groups of min 4, overlapping runs warm up. Pass in to centre player, make and over lapping run, receive ball back and pass to next waiting player. Rotate centre player each minute.
Progressions
- Pass to other side
- 2/3 touch max.
Coaching Points:
- good pass quality.
- COMMS
- Time run so you receive pass at pace.
- Time pass, pass into space in front of the runner.
