3 person offense against 3 person defense

7 & 11 recognize that outside defenders are dropped and pinched

With defenders dropped and pinched/ compact:

  • Don't try to run in behind defense
  • Instead pull out wide and away from goal
  • Once wide pass is made other two strikers make run in front of defenders (not behind)

This case has outside defender late getting back into play.

11 recognizes that defender is behind them. 

  • Makes run starting wide and then running inwards towards goal
  • Make sure first touch is towards goal
  • Momentum should be towards goal before receiving the ball

This case the defense is really high up the field and outside defender are not pinched in

  • Player on ball takes touch to allow forwards to start their run
  • 11 and 9 are in front of ball so they create circular run to create angle
  • 7 has space behind her so make a diagonal run inwards towards goal.
  • Pass needs to be high in air to clear above defense

  • 9 coming in front of her mark to provide short support
  • 7 looks to see if 8 or 6 is providing a triangle support
  • If 8 or 6 are too far back then 7 becomes the third part of triangle 
  • If 8 or 6 are in triangle then 7 pin/stand in front of weak side defender
