Possession to play forward (25 mins)

Focus + Session design

• Possession to play forward
• 3 teams of 3 - 2 neutral players
• 20x33 yard area - 5 yard middle zone
• Possession team to make 5 passes before transferring
• Passes through middle zone are worth 2 points, around are worth 1 point
• 2.5min games - 1min rest
• Defenders in for set time first round of games - if they win it they can score
• Second round of games play transition - if they win it transfer over

Coaching detail

• Calm and composed in possession
  
• Awareness of space, opposition press and team-mate
• Don't force things, be patient and wait for opportunity to play forward
• Neutral CDM players - play beyond opposition press - make sure open and available. Play on opposites.
• FBs - can you play on the shoulder of opposition players, make sure we can see you though

Progressions/Regressions

• If you can play through CMs, who connect and link, can play through straight away, no longer need set amount of passes

SSG (25 mins)

Focus + Session design

• Build-up SSG
• 20 yards width, 12 yards each third
• Pitch split into thirds as seen in image
• CBs and Wingers on edge of pitch
• CBs have to play through CMs, utilising 2v1
• CMs can score from their zone but ball has to go into final third first

• Looking to build from first practice and focus on connecting through the 2 x CMs
• Don't force things
• Ball detail
