A. GK sprints to either Server 1 and gets set at the cone. Handles a volley (contour or basket). Then drop steps to stick line and does designated footwork through sticks and then sprints to server 2 on same side as started and gets set to deal with a pass for a front smother. Work both sides 5 times per side.
Progression - At Server 1, deal with a back pass and server 2 deal with a front smother.
B. GK sprints to either Server 1 and gets set at the cone. Handles a tossed or bowled ball for a collapse dive away from the stick set up. Then drop steps to stick line and does designated footwork through sticks and then sprints to server 2 on same side as started and gets set to deal with a pass for a front smother. Work both sides 5 times per side.
Progression - At Server 2 deal with a collapse dive.

1. Efficiency of movment; shuffles, cross over, drop steps.
2. Getting set and moving within set shape.
3. Contour catch shape
4. Front smother tecnique, to and through the ball, bend knees, make a rampw ith pinkies touching.
5. Collapse dive technique; push through the ball, hands and head, land on side not stomach.

Hand Distribution & Catching Warm-Up (30 mins)
Half the GKs start with a ball. Can only take two steps with the ball before passing with hands to another GK. Must use instructed service, bowl, sling throw, or chest pass (when working on contour catch).
1. Sling throw/Chest Pass - contour catch. (encourage sling throw w/older young ones)
2. Under hand toss - basket catch
3. Bowl - Scoop/Incorporate Front Smother Technique teaching.
4. Have all GKs with a ball - spread out, start on knees and work through collapse dive technique (on ground and then mid range). (5-6 mins)
CPs.
-Set Position: Hands in front of body in neutral position, shoulder width base, chest forward.
-Contour Catch - Hand shape, top half of ball, elbows in, meet the ball.
-Basket/scoop: Make a ramp, pinkies touching, bend knees, head tucked.
-Front Smother: Step w/left or right foot into path of the ball, use a ramp to create a barrier, watch ball into hands, two contacts hands and chest, push through ball and land on forearms.
Collpase dive: hands, head and shourlds are one, w/step my whole body goes to the ball, push through the ball and use three hands to save (ground is third hand). When in the air, the ball lands first.
