Objective: Improve build up after a passback to keeper.......focus on triangularization, ball circulation, collective possession, attacking vertically with the ball in possession....also advance the ball vertically.
Equipment: Cones, balls, 2 colors, 17 players +GK if available
Organization: (2) teams of (1 = 7+GK, 1 = 7 +GK) players occupy positional lines. Defending team pinches and compacts field. Team with number superioty maintains possession and circulate switching point of attack and unbalancing defending team. If defending team wins the ball, they score by either passess or coutner.
Progression:
- Touch limit or minimum
- Can only switch on a turn.
- Can only switch by playing how you face.
- Score by getting ball to 9 and then back to 4-5.
- Score with number of passes.
- Allowed to advance after number of passes.
Coaching Points:
- Use of front/forward/far foot.
- Ready body posture, hips open to field, and support angle.
- Weight and angle of pass.
- Eyes up and looking over field.
- Occupying different lines.
- Playing on defenders blind spot.
- Orientation of first touch.
- Play how you face to find 3rd man.
- Play outside when def is in, and inside when defense is out (if both are open, find interior passes that break lines). - Skipping lines as a priority.
- Interchanging positionally *older players*
- Finding triangularization.
- Speed of play
- Manage the tempo (fast and slow)
- Pressing ((Defensively))
- Transition speeds.
Positional interaction:
- 6 moving in opposite to find ball from 4-5.
- 2/3/6 not in same horizontal lines
- 9/10/8 move differently than each other especially the #6....not in same horizontal lines and vertical

Organization: (3) teams of (5) players occupy three different spaces. Attacking teams take an endzone each. Defending team send 2 - 3 players into the endzone with in possession, leaves 1 - 2 players in the middle zone, and 1 - 2 players in the furthest zone. 2 neutral play in the middle zone. Team in posession makes certain number of passes and looks to switch the ball to the opposite endzone. Team that wins the ball plays the ball to the opposite endzone and takes the attacking position of the team they dispossesed.
Progression:
- Number of passes prior to switch
- Must find neutral prior to switch.
- Can only switch on a turn.
- Can only switch by playing how you face.
- Switch at will
- 2 defender in possession zone. 3 defenders in possession zone.
Coaching Points:

Objective: Starting Phase 1 build up through the goalkeeper - defending against the build up
*as we have only full training this week we work on off and def.
Equipment: Soccer balls, cones, small goals, poles
Organization: Defending player plays pass to goalkeeper and then the back four pass the ball out of the defense...after 15 minutes add in three/four attacking players who press. CB's and 6 create two diamond shapes to combine through the two attacking mids. The 2 and 3 are added to provide width. If the forwards win the ball they try to score on the big goal.
Progression:
- A fourth pressing player is added once the build up team has
success.
- Attacking team must combine 5 times before they can attack into finishing zone.
Coaching points:
- Weight of pass
- Create good angles to receive ball quickly
- Check shoulder
- 6 look to recieve ball of half turn
- 6 look to stay central, provide depth, and find the ball in the pocket (split) - Open body, hips to receive ball
- 2/3 provide width, but stay connected (tuck when ball is on weak side)
- 4/5 provide good angles, but also keep connected
