Agility shooting

Area:

Use attacking 3rd of pitch roughly. Put markers down for shooting area on edge of penalty area centrally, cones near corners and agillity stations as shown (this can be what ever you like).

Equipment:

Cones, poles, hurdles, ladder, mannequinns/target net. balls

Objective:

Start with a player in the shooting box, a player on each crossing cone in each corner and 4th player collecting balls from shots and feeding back to crossers. (if you have 5 players you could use the players either side of the goal as crossers simulating a clearance out of the box). The objective is the player in the shooting box to work hard for set time (1min, 1.5min or 2 mins depending on fitness). They will run out the box and through an agility station, round the cone at the end and back through the station. Before returning into the box they will call for a cross form a player and try and shoot with minimal tounches trying to get their shot away as quickly as possible. They then exit the square and go through a different agility station and repeat. Players can not go through the same agility station untill they have gone through the others. The objective is to try and get as many shots as possible and the focus is not the amount of goals. This is to put emphasis on intensity and doing things quickly. Once the time is up the players totate so all players have been in the middle.

Progression:

Alter The stations for different agility tasks or make them skill based. For example, dribble through the poles with a ball and back or run through hurdles and do 5 v cuts in front of a cone at end then run back.

Keypoints:

Put the emphasis on intensity and shooting as quickly as possible to try and get as many shots as possible. Taking your time to be accurate is not the focus. Challenge players to try a first time shot but only if it is realistic to achieve. Ensure the crossers are ready to cross as the player calls for the ball as the player shouldn't be waiting in the middle because the crosser isn't ready because they are not concentrating. Also the shooter needs to call early so they arrive onto the cross and not be waiting because they only called when they arrived in the box. Technical points for shooter are to bend their approach and be angled and not be facing to goal straight on as it will be harder to control.
