What: Players are giving the ball away cheaply going forward trying to push the impossible ball.

Why: decision making is poor when playing a pass in the final 3rd to penetrate the defence.
Football Problem: The team is struggling to penetrate in the final third due to poor decision making making runs and playing balls in behind the opposition defence.
Session Objective: I aim to improve…the decision making when trying to penetrate in the final third
Team Task: When we have the ball in the finally 3rd, can we play a team mate in behind the defence with a penetrating pass. "killer pass"
Player Tasks: (General / Position-specific)
-#11 & #7
-When the midfield players #6,#8 or #10 move forward with the ball, can you make an angled run in behind the defenders
-Lateral run across the last line of defence.
-Check off your marker to create an option to receive the ball in between the lines
-Make the field as big as possible when we have the ball
-Look to combine with #10,#8,#6
-If the ball move across to the opposite side, tuck in to support

-Keep central and receive the ball in front/of the defender
-Look to receive the ball in behind the opposition midfielders
-Split the defenders by getting your body side on to receive the ball on your back foot
-Look to bounce pass and angle a run in between defenders to get in behind the opponent.

-Either #6 or #8 push higher to split the opposition midfielders.
-Limit touches and move the ball quickly

-If the wide players break the line 1v1, look to overlap

Football Problem:
The team is struggling to penetrate in the final third due to poor decision making making runs and playing balls in behind the opposition defence
Session Objective:
In this session I aim to improve the decision making when trying to penetrate in the final third.
Organisation:
*12-16 players (2 x GK's)
-width of the 18 yard , length 1/2 pitch (same as diagram)
Explanation:
-Teams play a 7 v 7 with two GK's occupying the four goals in the marked zone playing on the team with the ball.
-The Red team try to execute 6 successive passes for a goal using the two GK's if needed while the BLUE team try to win the ball and play in either GK for a goal
-Rotate the Teams Periodically
Progression:
-Limit touches on the ball.
-Increase decrease the area
-Open the goals
Player Tasks:
-Positioning
-Scanning
-First touch
-Running with the ball
-Communication (point or call)
Coaches Cues:
-Movement off the ball in areas to receive the ball facing forward
-Back to the sideline to open your body up.
-Scan before you receive

Organisation:
-Two teams of 7 with two GKs
-Teams compete to be the first team to reach 50 passes. If a team loses the ball after 5 passes they restart the count on 6 passes after they regain the ball
Progression:
-The game becomes directional with each team trying to slide a player into the end zone
-A goal will only count if the ball enters the end zone before the player being played in
-The opposition GK screens the goal line to prevent a player being slid in

Progression 1:
-The opposition GK now plays as #9 for the team in possession within the end zone
-A goal will only count if the ball is played into the GK who bounces the ball back to a third man who finishes in either of the small goals with one touch

Organisation:
-Area, bring the sideline in by 7 metres.
-Teams play an 8 v 8 with a 5 v 3 in each half as shown
-BLUE team play a 1-2-2-3 formation
-RED team play a 1-2-2-3 formation
