Marvin's Transition Game
Two half-field games played simultaneously with a central channel containing one player from each team. (no defending in the central channel) In the example above: Left side of field - Red is defending the big goal. If they win the ball, they try to find the player in the central channel. If they are successfull, the player playing the ball in (Red 1) takes the place of the central player (Red 2) and the central player enters the game and now Reds are attacking the big goal and blue must transition and defend the big goal.
The same game is happening on the right half of the field so players in the central channel can get played into either game. Central players must stay sideways on so they can see both games.
Players can play into their central players any time they like and switch spots. Players will naturally migrate from one game to the other.
Coaching points. Patience in attack and use the central player as a back pass to keep possession. When defending and you win the ball, look to spring the counterattack as fast as possible by finding the central player. When teams turn the ball over in attack, they should fight to win it back immediately and have one controlling player stay central to stop a counterattack. That controlling player should be sideways on to know where the central player is and cut out a pass.
