Organization: 2 teams + 2 neutral players (6/9). 3v3+2, 4v4+2. Play starts with 3 lines as shown. Coach plays ball in, team to win it has "Regained Possession" and can go to goal. If opposing team gets possession, they can go to goal. PROBLEM SOLVING.
Tweak 1: RP team must "switch" channels before scoring goal. E.g., If they get possession in L Channel, they must get ball into R Channel, then go to goal.
Tweak 2: RP team must get ball OUTSIDE of channel before scoring a goal. I.e., 1 Att player can go outside space to receive a ball and play it back in (cannot be guarded).
Coaching Points: KEEP, then SWITCH. SCAN. Changing channels creates time and space and displaces opponent. The wider and faster the switch, the more time and space. Must have target player.

Organization: Size shown is for 12-14 U12's. Try to use 2-3-1 or 1-2-3-1. Play a normal game but with two wide channels marked out. Team in possession must have a player in each wide channel. Team out of possession must defend the central area. If IP Team does not have wide player - FOUL: Goal kick for opponent to build out of back or PK.
CP: ON RP, spread out, get ball to safety. Must have player in wide space until LP. On LP, get compact, get goalside, communicate.
Objective: To provide a visual cue to defenders so they stay compact when out of possession. When defending, players must try to stay in the central area - only one defender can move into the wide channels to defend 1v1.
Adaptations: To make the game easier to begin with, you can start with one neutral player in each wide channel. When a team wins possession, their first pass must be to one of these players. Once players are in the habit of looking for a wide pass out of pressure, you can remove the neutral players and return to the rules above.
Progressions: Remove the wide channels but continue to encourage compactness out of possession, and quickly providing a wide option when in possession.
