Using half a pitch, players perform quick feet & ball mastery exercises before progressing towards the goal. Once they have completed the exercises, the players combine making passes to each other followed up by an overlapping run. Any of the 3 players can shoot at any time. Next play starts once the previous play is finished (ball is dead).
Goalkeepers can perform quick feet or reactive exercises beside the goal before dealing with play.
SAQ exercises: 2 steps, 2 forward-one back, slalom, single leg jumps, 2-footed jumps.
Ball mastery exercises: dribble with both feet/single/weaker foot, inside/outside.
Coaching points:
- Correct fast feet/ball mastery technique (technique over speed)
- Weighted passes (in front of next player)
- Speed (to make overlapping run effective)
- Shooting technique (head over the ball/type of shot)
- Goalkeeper positioning (make goal smaller by narrowing shooting angle)
- Movmenet off the ball (follow up shots)
- Goalkeeper reactions (for followed up shots)
