Organisation
Equipment - Lots of cones will be needed for this drill, use at least 4-8 cones for the players to dribble in and out of and 9 cones to mark the grid.
Coaching Points
Encourage players to use both feet and the inside and outside of their foot and keep the ball close to them. Keep head up to encourage awareness of their surroundings.
Communication - Teammates encourage players where the best place would be to position their bibs.
Strategic thinking - This can allow the players to develop skills when in possession, (Decision making - Where to run and make plays on the field. Speed/ Control - Dribbling around opposition) or out of possession (Spatial Awareness - Where to mark or cover spaces. Pressure - Forcing the opposition to make a quick decision when going head to head)
Progressions/Regressions
Add more cones to dribble around or place the cones closer together
Use weak foot only
Reduce the number of cones or dribble in a straight line if it becomes too difficult
Once the participants are able to progress a ball will be added in which the participants will then have to dribble through the cones, place the bib down and pass the ball to the next participant.
