Building out of Zone 3
Possessing from Zone 3 to 4 - Friday March 1
This is the same possession game, shape, and structure that we have worked on the last 2 sessions, now just set higher up the pitch.
You can look at our initial shape as a 4-4-2 Diamond, or a 3-5-2 (we are in possession), or a 4-3-3 (4-1-2-3)
The concept of working the ball between the wide targets to create gaps to play penetrating passes through still applies.
The next part of the puzzle is our ACTIVE-SIDE STRIKER SHOWS LOWER JUST BEHIND MIDFIELD UNIT, which allows the Attacking Mid or 2nd Striker to make runs in behind the dropping striker as seen in this animation, and gives our defensive ball carriers the option to hit deeper targets beyond the midfielders when breaking lines with passes.
