OBJECTIVE: Attacking Transition through link-up play
COACHING POINTS:
- Defender closets to ball and stepping up right away and pressing the attacker away from goal.
- Travel as the ball is being played
- Second player drops for cover.
- Win the ball and look to make your first pass forward. Target player looks to drop in to receive the ball and either find the underneith pass, find the combo with a wide player, or turn and go to goal.
- Quick 1 touch bounce passes
- Hard driven ball into target
- PATIENCE IN POSSESSION
- LINK UP PLAY | If the center players checks, finding the quick combo with the wide players. If the wide players check, finding the underneith pass to play forward and exposing the space created out wide.

Player A plays to Player B, who bounces the ball back to A, who plays to C to link up. C then plays to D.

Rotation is A moves to B, B moves to C, C moves to D

1 Small Goal and an endzone
Ball starts from the Red group. They play the ball to the player at half way, who opens up and plays to the Green attackers.
Green dribbles and attacks the endzone. Red looks to defend 2v1 and win the ball quickly and find the target who has to lay the ball off to an incoming runner. Target player drops into the field of play, a second green looks to defend the target and it turns into a 3v2.
Focus on-

Tight grid
Make 2 groups
3v3 in each end third of the field.
In this example Red looks to possess and find a Red forward dropping into the middle third to link up. 1 player can join in the middle to create a 2v1. It then becomes a 4v3 attacking to the small counter goals. Once Red loses the ball, the extra player must return to there third.

Dynamic warm-up with a ball. Players dribble around and on the coaches command perform a skill (Toe taps, boxes, L-Turns, V-Turns, Scisscors, step overs, etc)
They perform this for 1 minute stretch, and then dynamic stretch for 1:30 minute. Captains lead and pick which stretch to be performed in what order.
