Picture 1: Front 2 blocking passes into centre midfield - forcing play to the full backs.
Nearest centre forward to the ball blocks pass into the number 8 on that side of the pitch.
The other centre forward drops and narrows slightly to block the pass into the number 4.
As the ball is switched from one centre back to the other roles of the two centre forwards are reversed. Reaction to the switch of play and the movement of the centre forwards needs to be immediate and fast, though they need to ensure they don't sell themselves - 'get there quickly arrive slowly' - shorten strides as they get to the centre back.
Centre forwards only look to press and win the ball if they have an opportunity to win it back (poor touch, poor pass etc).
Centre forwards need to be aware of movement of the number 4 and number 8's behind them. Can they check shoulders to be aware of the movements? Can a midfielder pass on information ('left' or 'right')?

Picture 2: ball goes to red full back
This is the trigger for the blue wing back to press the full back aggressively (again emphasise correct pressing technique) and to show inside to protect the wide space.
Nearest centre forward drops and moves towards the ball to block a pass into the number 4 and force the full back to go back to the centre back.
Centre midfielders press aggressively (ball side and goalside on their man)
Centre backs shift over (ball side)
Weak side wing back narrows to provide balance.

Picture 3: Ball does go to the number 4.
Aggresive press from behind by the blues highest midfielder to not allow the number 4 to turn and play forward. Try to read body shape of the number 4 to help this - press on the ball receiving side. Again emphasise correct pressingtechnique.
Nearest centre forward to press the number 4 from the front to provide additional pressure on him. Also trying to read body shape.
Deeper blue central midfielders narrow slightly to provide cover and balance.

Picture 4: Number 4 is missed out
Ball goes into one of the red number 8's and is pressed aggressively by the nearest deeper midfielder on receiving side.
The other deeper midfielder drops and narrows slightly to provide cover and support.
Weakside wing back also tucks in to provide balance. Other wing back drops and narrows slightly to protect wide space.
Centre backs shift to defend ball side.
Picture 5 If Midfield rotational movement.
Blue midfielders stay with their players to ensure pressure on receiving player can be applied quickly.

Picture 6: Ball with red 9
Nearest centre back apply pressure from behind to prevent turns
Other centre back drops and narrows to provide cover and balance.
Wing backs drop and narrow slightly to cover wide goals (7 and 11 space)
Can a deeper midfielder press the 9 from the front (recover to the ball)?
Other midfield recovery - remain goal side of red midfielders. Recover behind ball if runner goes beyond 9.

Practice design:
Start point: pass between the two red centre backs.
Blues (2-5-2) are the coached team and they defend and then try to score in the main goal versus the goalkeeper
Reds 1-4-3-1 are the managed team and can score one touch in main goal or in wide goals (no touch limit) that replicate the positions of the 7 and 11. They are a possesion based team who like to play through the thirds, making particular use of their number 4.
Pitch markings help to ensure realistic positionings of red team (centre backs and midfield 3)
