Description

Session is used to build confidence in 1v1 scenarios, specifically using dribbling to attack the space in behind the defender to threated the goal.

Players should be encouraged to be brave and understand that mistakes will happen and it is ok. They should also be encouraged to work hard when they do not have the ball (defending or when they lose it) to win it back.

Questions- How can we change pace from slow to fast? How can we change pace from fast to slow? Where should I be looking when dribbling?

Answers- Keep back studs on cleat off the ground, bend the knees/get low to load your legs, then push to explode out of it. Shorten up your steps. I should be constantly looking for different things; open space, the ball, and when the defender moves their body weight forward (this one is really important and will require a demo, when the defender shifts their weight forward to win the ball, that is when we should explode past them.)

Play 1v1 to 2 pug goals.

Players play 1v1 attacking two pug goals on their opponents side. If they dribble past the line and score, then the goal is worth 3. If they score before the line, the goal is worth 1. Play game to x goals or for x time and allow players to switch to play new people.

1v1 to 1v1 to Dribble Line (25 mins)

1v1 to 1v1 dribble line.

Attacker and defender start on their line. Play starts on attackers first touch. The goal for the attacker is to dribble past the first line. Once the attacker crosses the first line, the next defender can start defending and the first defender cannot follow (you can allow the first defender to follow as it start to become easy). The attacker has to dribble past the next dribble line and score in the goal.

Reduce the size of the second zone to decrease the distance between defenders to increase difficulty.
