Description

Quickstrike FC is a premier soccer program that competes at the Regional and National levels.

Our primary focus is the development of player values; including commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, as well as technical, tactical and team skills required to fulfill potential and progress to the highest level of play. Activation/Warm Up/Stretching (10 mins)

Activation:

1. Knee Series – 5x front to back / side to side 5x circles each direction

2. Squat Series – 5x with 2 second hold / 5x with rotation

3. Hip Series – 5x each direction (Open, Circle Front, Circle Back, Kick Back)

4. Plank Series:

a. Front Plank - 5x each exercise (Leg raises alternating, taps, stacks)

b. Side Plank - 5x each exercise (Dips, leg raises, taps, knee hold)

Warmup:

6 outside cones - 15 yards by 8 yards

2 central cones - 4 yards from outside cones

Instructions:

Two lines of players, one per line

Y Passing Pattern (10 mins)

Organization:

4 cones in 'Y' shape

10 yards from start line to far cones 'C'

5 yards from start line to first cone 'B'

5 to 8 yards from cone 'B' to cones 'C'

Players line up at 'A' with ball

Instructions:

2 to 3 minutes on each variation. Rest between variations with dynamic stretch, Quick Feet Series (front to back, side to side, 1-2 hold, jumps)

Variation 1 - Pass, Lay-off, Pass, Dribble:

Players on each cone, remaining players line up at 'A' with one ball each.

Player at 'A' passes ball to player at 'B'

Player at 'B' passes ball back to player at 'A'

Player at 'A' passes ball to either player at 'C' (alternate sides).

Player at 'A' runs to 'B'

Player at 'B' runs to 'C'

Player receiving ball at 'C' dribbles ball to back of line at 'A'

Variation 2 - Pass, Turn, Combination:

Players on each cone, remaining players line up at 'A' with one ball each.

Player at 'A' passes ball to player at 'B', jogs to 'B'

Player at 'B' turns, passes ball to player at 'C' (alternate sides) and jogs to 'C'

Player at 'C' passes ball to player jogging to 'C'

Main Theme I (15 mins)

Organization:

60 x 60 area set up as shown

Four cones as starting points around edge - 'A'

Four cones in center - 'B'

Instructions:

Players at 'A' dribbles to and through center cones/box, 'B', and onto next starting gate - 'C'.

Repeat.

Coaching Points:

Quality and speed of dribble/control - ball close to foot, big toe/little toe, Messi touches

Head up

Progressions:

P - Change direction of turn in center box from clockwise to counter-clockwise

P - Use scissors move prior to center box, 'B'

P - Use double scissors move prior to center box, 'B'

P - Use Feint move prior to center box, 'B'

Fitness (5 mins)

Organization:

Full size soccer field

Instructions:

Players run around field once, player at back of pack runs to front.

Coaching Points:

Players split jogging and sprinting over six sections of field: 2 x goal lines, 2 x side lines split into two. Players jog one section, then sprint one section.

Players jog two sections, then sprint two sections.

Players jog three sections, then sprint three sections.

Players jog four sections, then sprint four sections.

Progressions:

P - Repeat either immediately or after Main Theme II with ball.

Organization:

Split group into two, number per group dependant on number of available players.

One ball per group or two if two players in center

Instructions:

Player in center receives ball from outside plyer, controls and returns in, then moves to receive ball from another outside player.

Coaching Points:

Be on toes ready to receive ball

Watch ball not player

Take energy out of ball

Accuracy of returned ball/pass important

Pace of play

Progressions:

P - Add competition - see who can return most balls in 90 seconds

Players in pairs, one ball per pair.

Instructions:

Player throws ball to partner who controls and returns it.

Players move across play area. When they reach opposite side they switch roles

Coaching Points:

Quality of service important but challange partner

Take energy out of ball

Focus on ball and not player

Be on toes, open body posture

Progressions:

P - Throw to feet and volley return

P - Throw to thigh, control and return

P - Throw to thigh, control and volley return

P - Throw to chest, control and return

P - Throw to chest, control and volley return

P - Throw to chest, control with thigh and return

P - Throw to chest, control with thigh and volley return

P - Throw to head, control and return

P - Throw to head, control with chest and return

P - Throw to head, control with chest then thigh and return

P - Use weaker foot

P - Player receiving ball runs around back of server after returning ball

P - Add competition:

(i) First to cross area ten times wins, minimum 4 touches per individual cross and most use foot, thigh, chest and head

(ii) Team with most crosses in time (2 or 3 minutes) wins.

Instructions:

Open play. 8 Players (4 v 4) or adjust based on number of available players

Score by shooting through gates/goals

When a team concedes they are replaced by four team mates

Coaching Points:

Pace of play

Speed of transition

Create triangles: 2 v 1 and 3 v 2 overloads

Progressions:

P - All players on team have to touch ball before a shot can be made
