Set up: 

As shown in figuration

-2x6 grid (10x15m)

-4 starting cones on one end, approximately 3m apart

-2 gates, opposite end of starting cones 

Description: 

To start the drill, groups of four will move in to the grid. 2 wingers and 2 middles. The two winger time their run and scan for space to receive a pass. The two middles aim to receive and set the other middle to play the ball forward to a wing. Upon receiving the ball, wingers must dribble through the gates.

Coaching points: 

  • encourage communication with teammates 
  • make timely actions  to move in to open space to receive a pass
  • scan/ observe for those spaces
