Organization: 1/2 field - mark off 50 yards wide. Offside cones.
Activity: Play SSG 8 vs. 8. FIFA rules, except no corners (return to keeper) and play offside line. To score the ball must be passed by an unopposed bounce player who plays down the flanks.
Progression:
Look for a 1-touch finish
Encourage MIDS to look for poor clearances or rebounds.
Coaching Points:
Winger to take a positive touch or possibly recycle the ball to a supporting fullback (support) for a cross.
Winger's decision - cut in for a shot or crossing quality - head up, picking out players.
Type of cross - location/height. Across the 6-yard box, cut back to the penalty spot, and cut back to the edge of the 18-yard box for trailing MID (penetration).
Creative and well-timed runs (mobility) into a dangerous scoring area. Keep an eye on the ball and choose the type of finish as the ball travels. Step in front of defenders.
