Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)

Age Group- U13

Players involved - 13+1(GK)

Coaches involved- 3

Equipment used: Cones, Footballs, Mini goals, Full sized goal for age

Health & Safety

  • Drinks Area that is away from the field of play, but close enough to avoid wasting ball rolling time.
  • Footballs are placed together in certain zones (Zone will change for the SSG)
  • Coaching Equipment - Stopwatch for timing each drill and support correct transitions as well as interventions.
Learning Objectives

  • Ensure players understand and replicate breaking line passes effectively to then get into positions to "attack the box" and create goalscoring opportunities.

SSG/MSG

SSG/MSG- 2 x 8  minutes

the two blocks allows both teams to swap over and defend the 9v9 (16x7ft) full sized goal.

Set up:

  • Split into 2 groups
  • 1 team of 8 (set up as a 4-2-1-1 which is our shape in game to add realism)
  • 1 team of 6 ( set up as a 1-3-2 to add repetition of breaking line passes by having an underload)
  • 2 coaches focus on the SSG
  • 1 coach focus on the Attackers
  • 1 coach focus on defenders
  • 1 coach implements key pointers when feels necessary

Execution of MSG:

All balls start from the team attacking the 9v9 goal

The aim for the team In red is to create breaking line passes by shifting the ball around to cause the opposition to disjoint, with the overload this should be possible allowing a lot of repetition for the team on the ball.

Coaching Points:

  • High reps of good effective breaking line passes whilst coaching efficiently to give the players the best possible information.
  • Allow players to be creative and find solutions to break lines when not possible

Interventions:

Concurrent

Bullseye
Condition players to limit touches or only play a direction

Rest .
