The session aim is to ensure the fundamentals for dribbling and passing are correct, through a mixture of drills and fun games for the kids.

Set-up
*Square or rectangular area, outlined with cones
*2 players on the inside, 8 on the outside. All outside players have a ball
Brief description
*2 players start on the inside of the square. They move around the inside of the area collecting passes from the outside, control and pass back. Move to a new player to repeat. Cannot get a pass from the same player twice.
Aims
*Players to control and pass with inside (instep) of the foot.
*Good first touch on receiving the ball
*Body position/balance and look where passing the ball
*Weight of pass, accuracy over power
*Use both feet
Possible progressions/Adaptations
*Adjust are size if needed
*Increase/Decrease number of players in the middle
*Rather than controlling pass, play the ball back to outside first time
*Turn into a game 1) players in the middle vs each other; who can complete the most passes 2)Same as number 1 but working in pairs 3)Players in the middle take turns as defender and attacker. Which attacking player completed the most passes, with the defender trying to stop passes.

Set-up
*Two gates on either end, with 5 cones in the middle
*1 ball per each group
Brief description
*The player dribbles in and out of the cones, once he gets to the end of the cones he passes the ball to the player waiting to receive
Aims
*Players to keep the ball close while dribbling, soft touches
*Players to put head up when possible
*Use both feet, and all surfaces of the foot
*Players to control and pass with inside (instep) of the foot.
*Good first touch on receiving the ball
*Body position/balance and look where passing the ball
*Weight of pass, accuracy over power
Possible progressions/Adaptations
*Add or remove cones
*Add in one additional cone at the end, with a bigger space to perform a skill (e.g. stepover, Cruyff turn etc.), before passing
*Turn into a race between the two teams

Set-up
*Two end zones with 3 gates at either end of the pitch
*1 ball
Brief description
*Small sided games where players can only score by dribbling or passing through the gates at the end zones.
Aims
*Too see if the players can take the skills of what they have learnt from the session into a game environment.
*For dribbling - close control, soft touches, head up, use both feet, all surfaces of the foot
*For passing - Body position, weight, accuracy, using instep
Possible progressions/Adaptations
*Add, remove or adjust size of scoring gates
*Change the rules so you can only score by dribbling through the gate or so you can only score by passing through the gate, not both.
*Adjust the size of teams so one has extra players
*Move into a normal match

Brief description
*Each player dribbling around the area without bumping into each other or losing control of the ball.
Aims
*Players to keep the ball close while dribbling, soft touches
*Players to put head up when possible
*Use both feet, and all surfaces of the foot
*Players to get comfortable with ball at their feet
Possible progressions/Adaptations
*Adjust are size if needed
*Coach adds in skills for the players to complete when instructed (e.g. stepover, Cruyff turn etc.)
*Add gates for players to dribble through
*Turn into a game by adding a defender (Trying to kick dribbling players ball out of the square). Last player left in the square with a ball wins
