Description :
> 40x40 area.
> attack v defence.
> 3v2.
> attackers must look to exploit the overload & score into one of the goals.
> defenders must try to win ball back & pass or dribble through the gates.
> attackers must work together to get past the defenders, let players know to be patient on the ball & not try to force the goal. They have the extra player so use them all the time to commit defenders.
Progression :
> if attacking players finding success then look to take away the middle goal so players have less goals to score in to.
> add in amount of passes before attackers can score, players must make 5 passes before they can shoot into on of the goals.
> limit the attackers to only having 3 touches each.
> encourage players to be patient & move into space away from the goals.
> players must look to communicate as much as they can to let player on the ball know where their options are.
> dribble at defender & look to commit player before making pass, this will allow you to take one defender out the game instead of playing a pass too early.
> we should never be static during the drill, the more movement & change between attackers will make it harder for defenders to track.
Can we make runs in behind the defence?
Why do we communicate with each other?
Why should we always be on the move?
How can we make the drill more successful?

Description :
> full half of a field.
> attack v defence.
> 5v4.
> the field is now split into 3 seperate grids.
> this now replicates how a field would be with our defence third, middle third & attacking third.
> ball will always start at halfway line with the defenders in the defence third.
> attackers will always have an overload & extra player.
> 1 player can move forward to support the teammates in the next grid to allow us to create that overload, player can either dribble into grid or pass into midfielder & then support.
> when a defence player steps into middle third & helps teammates then he cannot move up anymore, a midfielder must then look to move up to the attacking third to support the striker, again will allow us to create an overload.
Progression :
> if attacking team finding success then we can now allow a defending player to move backwards into a grid to help their teammate against the attackers.
> encourage players to be patient in their grid, if a forward dribble or pass is not on then let them know they can keep the ball between them inside their own grid.
> always should be communicating to allow teammates to know when they are coming in to support.
> move about the grid so it drags defenders about & can make space for the supporting player.
> supporting player must look to dribble with purpose & try to commit the defender so we can then play the pass to the open teammate in the grid.
Can we be positive on the ball?
Where should our first touch go?
Why do we need to move about our grid?
When should we support?

9v9 Game.
our end game should try to incoporate what we have worked on during the session, make sure to ask players questions to let them work it out for themselves rather than us telling them what to do :
Can we be positive on the ball?
Where should our first touch go?
When should we support?
Can we make runs in behind the defence?
Why do we communicate with each other?
Why should we always be on the move?
Can we move the ball quickly & not let the defender get settled?

Description :
> 20x40 area.
> teams of 5.
> 1 ball per group.
> players are given a number between 1-5.
> players must pass & move the ball inside their area & pass in their number sequence.
> after 2 minutes of players passing amongst their own team, now looking to add pressure from a defender. Coach will shout a number, the player shouted must then go to into the opposition box & try to win the ball back.
> make sure all numbers have been called before moving on.
Progression :
> look to challenge players & see if they can keep the ball off the defender when they only 3 touches.
> if defender wins ball back, see if they can dribble back into their box before players try to get the ball back.
> players must look to move into space & create angles for a pass.
> encourage players to move ball quickly & not slow things down which will make it easier for defender.
> communication is key in this type of exercise so remind players to ask for ball.
Can we move the ball quickly & not let the defender get settled?
Why should we move into space?
What can we do to let our teammate know where we are?
How can we get more passing success?
Can we get our head up when looking to play a pass?
