Intervals:
2:30 min work + :30 rest x 6 reps (2 for each team)
Setup:
3 teams of 5
Two 25x20 grids with small space in between
Activity:
One team is playing defense (pressing) for each interval. 3 pressers inside the grid and extras in middle trying to cut off passing lanes.
Other teams try to keep possession by either passing within their grid or by switching to opposite grid.
Only defensive team can score: 1 point for winning ball and playing into middle (keeping possession) and 3 points for scoring in goal.
Progression:
+ Allow far-side midfielder to step into middle grid (more realistic)
Coaching Points:
+ Pressing cues -- bouncing ball, player facing wrong way, poor touch
+ Making play predictable
+ Force play backwards or sideways (and back in the same direction it came)
+ Midfielders checking shoulders to screen passing lanes

Intervals:
3 min work + 1 min rest x 4 = 16 min
Setup:
Half a field split in half as shown.

Blue team with #3, #6, #10, #11, #9
Activity:
White team tries to score in small goals (or targets) at half.
Blue team tries to win ball and score in big goal.
Progression:
+ When blue team wins ball, #7 can join in on counter attack. White CB joins as well
+ Dealing with punts: GK long deliveries
Coaching Points:
~ When winning the ball up high, can we spring the counter attack if the numbers are even or up?
~ Pressing the ball immediately after losing it -- All players must press as a unit.

Setup:
Half field
1-4-3 vs. 0-2-2-3
Activity:
Ball starting positions: goal kick, in GK hand, throw-ins, free kicks (out wide), kick off
White team tries to score in small goals.
Blue team tries to win ball and score in big goal.
Coaching Points:
~ Line of confrontation at 70%
~ 7/11 pushing play inside
~ #9 cutting field in half (deny weakside CB)
~ Compacting the field
~ Where to invite the pass: If outside back is too low, winger should invite wide pass and then press from side/behind into outside back
~ When ball is wide (left):
1) #3 pressure, #6 is cover, #10 covers inside, #11 applies double team from above
