Dribbling under pressure (10 mins)

Description

Each player has a ball and they must dribble to an empty space, the defender cannot tackle when players are on the lines (space between cones), he can only tackle when dribbling between the lines. If the defender wins the ball switch roles.

Progressions:

1. Start without balls, defender tags players on the chest - therefore they must spin their body (i.e., protecting the ball) tro avoid contact.

2. As above with ball, dribbling.

3. Red keep the ball, the attacker (blue) provide no pressure, red (decision when) passes the ball into attack and closes down. The attacker aims to score by dribbling through the available space, other defenders move along their lines (cannot step into tackle) to close this off, which in turn frees up another line to dribble through.

4. 1v1 in central area, attacker can use outside attackers to (i) play a wall pass allowing central attacker to score or (ii) switch positions allowing an outside player to dribble into space.

Technical

1. Ball control and dribbling.

2. Shielding.

3. Turning and changing direction.

4. Positive first touch.

Tactical

1. Head-up to identify space.

2. Combination play.

3. Defensive pressure in 1v1.

4. Defensive cover.

Physical
