Instructions/Objectives:
Objective is to build a comfort with 1-2's at game pace. Focus on quality passing, early decision making and quick movement.
A passes to B and closes down simulating defensive pressure and goes to replace B. B then has the choice to pass to either C or D to combine in a 1-2. In the diagram B elects to combine with C to play around A. Pattern is A to B, A closes down, B to C or D for 1-2, B must alway move opposite direction of pass to get around A. Keep intensity and speed of play high by progressing to one touch passing.
Coaching Points:
1. Early decision making (thinking a step ahead, know where you're going)
2. Quality & weight of pass (sharp, accurate and placement of pass)
3. 1st touch (creativity, using various surfaces to pass)
4. Movement (quick, high tempo, timing)
5. Awareness (head check, recognize direction of pressure)
6. Communication
7. Speed of play

Instructions/Objectives: 2 lines of 2-3 players, 1v1 + 2 neutral players as bumpers (15 yds x 10 yds)
1v1+2 neutral players (blue), play begins with red playing across to black. Black attempts to reach end line for 1pt using skill or combination (give & go, 1-2) with either bumper to get past defenders. Neutrals must stay outside, provide good angles of support through movement along the line and only have 1 touch. Players rotate lines after each 1v1. Create competition to keep intensity high, first team to 10pts wins.
Coaching points:
1. Decision making (observe defenders, pressing or not)
2. Combination play (1-2's to beat defender)
3. Encourage players to use skill & accelerate into open space
4. Quality return passes from support players (leading return passes)
5. Support angles/distance of bumpers

Instructions/Objectives: 2v2+2 (18yds x 12yds) 3v3+2 (30yds x 20yds)
Objective is to allow players repetition to mirror movements, combination plays as well as practice fundamentals of passing and receiving introduced during technical warm-ups.
2v2+2, black vs red + blue (neutrals), red attacks their end zone (top shaded area), while black counters to opposite end zone (bottom shaded area) . If red successfully enters their end zone, they receive 1pt and change direction to counter attack to new end zone (bottom shaded area). Support players must stay outside and only have 1 touch. Teams play first to 3-5pts and losing team changes places with neutral players.
Progressions:
3v3+2 (30yds x 20yds)
Coaching Points:
1. Encourage combinations
2. Quality of pass (crisp, accurate, proper weight, 1-2 touches)
3. Angles of support (space, safe passing lanes)
4. Timing of runs (getting behind the defense, not to early or late)
5. Communication / Awareness (head checks for defenders and teammates)
6. Speed of Play
