Animation 1 (20 mins)

Skills development with 2v1 overlap scenario 5 mins

When players dribble to the mannequin they have to complete a single scissor that imitates passing the ball to the player going around them. They then drive across the line into the space.

Change skill to reverse stepover then make players do a messi dip to pretend that they won’t pass to the player and then lay off for the overlapping player to run onto.

Coaching points: very high tempo to recreate game scenario, change of speed after getting past the defender, timing of skill.

Animation 2 (20 mins)

2v1 8 mins

Players complete the previous exercise however now with an opposed defender and players do not have to complete the skill however points should be made promoting the use of skills to off balance the defender and increase disguise in the play

Progress by swapping the side of the defenders.

Coaching points: speed of play, playing the first pass, use of skills, attacking space
